Hello, dear readers! It’s almost midnight and I have already worked for about sixteen hours so I decided to write my blog a bit earlier so that I could get lost into a book afterwards. The last two days have been like spring and helped us enjoy the outdoor with long walks and runs. However, a few moments ago, I went outside on the balcony and I found myself under the cold shower of a rain that creeped in without me noticing. I noticed that the wind had intensified earlier – it would have been difficult not to notice it as it opened all my doors with a big bang (for a moment there, I thought something had exploded), even though they were closed and actually locked but I went out afterwards and nothing forewarned me that the rain would come. Anyway, we had a long walk this evening as we accompanied my daughter to the store: finally she bought her cans of Fanta. I was the bodyguard because Rex was too busy to bop here and there. It was the first time for Rex. He had a chance to see a Petrocanada in the past (that’s a store at a gas station) but he never had a chance to see Basic Foods, the store that generously supplies my neighbors with carts. Actually, I saw a few people leaving with their carts home. We, as outstanding citizens that we are (it seems we have no one left to praise us and we have to do it ourselves), we left the cart at the store and carried the bags home as we’ve been doing all our life. Anyway, as Rex never learnt the advantage of walking a straight line, we ran here and there, up and down (because the ground is not even and there are little slopes). As result, I think we actually managed to triple the distance, which is not very bad for the silhouette. It was quite invigorating as we did everything jogging, the only speed Rex was aware of tonight. The store represented a huge novelty for him. If at Petrocanada he could follow my daughter with his eyes all over the store, here, once she got inside, he lost her and he got antsy at first and then very angry and in the end he started whimpering. That lasted only until he saw how many people were passing by and he realized that he found a new source of limbs to bite. Luckily, I have developed strong muscles on my right arm since I took him in and managed to keep him close to me – I wouldn’t have enjoyed spending the night at a police station. However, being close to me reminded him of my gloves which he considers his toys. It had been a fierce fight before we left home because one of the gloves fell on the floor and it took me some time to recuperate it from his teeth. Now, though, he noticed the gloves again and tried to snap them off my hand and honestly, I didn’t enjoy it too much. I prevailed in the end and he let the matter to rest. Today, I worked from home and I didn’t have a chance to sample the delicious world of the transit system, which was a real loss. I understand that a raccoon decided to take a trip on the train and it caused quite a ruckus at Spadina station where he attacked the boots of a passenger. However, I saw the video. The faces of its fellow travelers were precious. Truth to be said, the public transport provides a lot of entertainment: sometimes on a very small scale, as it was the man that had a pen in his hand and was walking along the train and whenever he’d see someone reading or writing something would go to add his autograph to the book or notebook to the total dismay of the victim, or on a larger scale as it was the couple that had sex on the train and when they were chased out of the train they continued in the subway station as they were still in the crutches of passion. I am afraid I will have to end my today’s blog here. The wind is insisting in knocking my balcony door down and it ruins my focus on what I am writing here. I don’t want to find out tomorrow that I wrote God knows what. Better safe than sorry, I always say. And to think I wanted to talk about white and black and the areas of grey! Well, maybe I’ll remember tomorrow. Till then, have a nice night or morning or day, depending on what meridian and longitude you are!
